Winners and Losers

Here is my list of the winners and losers in this election other than the candidates themselves.

Winners
  • Vietnam Veterans - 33 years after John Kerry trashed their reputations, they rose up to defend America once again.

  • The Military - 8 out of 10 supported President Bush because they thought he would be a better commander in chief. They should know.

  • Citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan - The citizens of these countries now know that America will stand by their side in their fight for freedom. Hopefully other countries will get that chance too.

  • Taxpayers - Unlike his father, Bush 43 means it when he says he won't raise taxes. He also will attempt to reform the tax code.

  • The Constitution - Only judges that believe the constitution means what it says will be nominated to the courts. This President will most likely nominate 2, maybe as many as 3 or 4, to the Supreme Court.

  • Republican Party - President Bush received the most votes ever in a presidential race and also was the first to go over 50% since his father in 1988. The GOP gained seats in both the House and the Senate, the first time that has happened for the incumbent party since 1936. This comes on top of the gains in 2002 which was the first time since 1934 that the president's party gained in the off-year elections of his first term. The GOP has now had control of the House for 10 years. Republicans also continue to hold a majority of governorships.

  • Bloggers - Bloggers played a role in this election by policing the mainstream media. Without bloggers, the fake documents broadcast by CBS would never had been discredited. Bloggers also shot down the bogus explosives story at the end of the campaign.

  • Hugh Hewitt - I list him for two reasons. First he warned us not to panic over the exit polls that showed Kerry winning in a landslide. Second, the title of his book, "If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat", was a perfect description of why Kerry was forced to give up in Ohio.

  • Hillary Clinton - She now has a clear path for the Democratic nomination in 2008. God help us!
Losers
  • Bin Laden/Terrorists - There was no celebrating in the Middle East when Bush won. This is because appeasement will not be a policy of the United States.

  • Mainstream Media - The press did everything it could to unseat President Bush. With fair treatment he would probably have won in a landslide. CBS and the NY Times have now been thoroughly discredited as house organs of the Democratic party. They should be forced to register as 527's.

  • Political Pundits - Most of them have been shown to have no idea what they are talking about.

  • Pollsters - Polls were all over the place. They have no idea how to measure opinion in the age of cell phones and caller ID. Zogby deserves special scorn for calling the election for Kerry around 4PM, oops! The exit polls were the biggest joke of all.

  • Democratic Party - A party in complete disarray that needs to do some serious soul searching. Terry McAuliffe has been the best thing for the GOP since sliced bread!

  • Senate Obstructionism - How did that work out for you Senator Daschle?

  • United Nations - OK, they were already losers but they are more so now! IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei should start packing his bags.

  • Hollywood/Michael Moore - America could care less what you think about politics. Shut up and act or sing or whatever it is you do to get paid ridiculous amounts of money. Michael Moore goes back to being a third rate director with no real influence. I'll help start a fund drive to assist him in his move to Canada if he wants!

  • George Soros - Next time you want to throw away millions of dollars, give it to me!

  • MA Supreme Court - 11 more states have banned gay marriage to protect against out of control courts like the one in MA. Thanks for playing a role in sinking the candidate from your own home state!
