Nothing Like His Brother

Ted Kennedy was rolled out yesterday to give a speech about Iraq. The gist of the speech states that we should pull out of Iraq. It is yet another example of why Democrats can not be trusted with the national security of this great country which explains why they continue to lose more power with each passing election.

Here are some of the excerpts that made my blood boil (don't read if you have high blood pressure!), followed by my comments:
There may well be violence as we disengage militarily from Iraq and Iraq disengages politically from us, but there will be much more violence if we continue our present dangerous and destabilizing course.
Didn't your buddy John Kerry say the same thing about Vietnam? How many millions were killed in Southeast Asia when we pulled out?
We thought in those early days in Vietnam that we were winning. We thought the skill and courage of our troops was enough. We thought that victory on the battlefield would lead to victory in war, and peace and democracy for the people of Vietnam.
We could have won it if politicians like you had let the military run the war! By the way, who was it that got us into Vietnam in the first place? That's right Teddy, your brother did. Somehow you always fail to mention that fact.
The insurgency is largely home-grown. By our own government's count, the ranks of the guerrillas are large and growing larger.
Some how he fails to mention that the most well know and brutal "insurgent" is a Jordanian with ties to Al Qaida.
Our military and the insurgents are fighting for the same thing-the hearts and minds of the people - and that is a battle we are not winning.
Last I checked, cutting off a person's head was not exactly a way to win hearts and minds, unless of course you mean literally going for his mind. Stating we are not winning is another example of the Democrat's version of supporting the troops.
In the end, there is only one choice. America must give Iraq back to the Iraqi people. We need to let them make their own decisions, reach their own consensus, and govern their own country.
Duh!!! That would be why they are holding elections! The same elections that you are hoping to sabotage with your speech.
The United States and the international community have a clear interest in a strong, tolerant and pluralistic Iraq, free from chaos and civil war.
That is true, but pulling out of Iraq would guarantee that it never happens. If we retreat Iraq will become a terrorist training ground ten times worse than Afghanistan ever was. Also notice that he never uses the word "Democratic".
The first point in a new plan would be for the United Nations, not the United States, to provide assistance and advice on establishing a system of government and drafting a Constitution.
Would that be the same United Nations that was enriching itself from the Oil for Food program while ordinary Iraqis remained hungary? Would that also be the same United Nations that was in favor of leaving Iraqi citizens under the control of a murderous thug dictator?

In my opinion this speech is nothing short of aiding and abetting the enemy. The Senator obviously does not care that his words will be used throughout the Middle East as evidence that we are an "occupying power". It is very similar to how Kerry didn't care how his words would be used by the North Vietnamese.

The speech also shows that Democrats have no concern for those that would die in the chaos that would follow the removal of our forces nor do they care what our retreat would say to our enemies. Have we learned nothing from our retreat from Somalia? Bin Laden himself said that event emboldened him.

Kennedy should be ashamed of himself (as should the MA voters who continually vote for him), but that is a trait he does not have as we learned from chappaquiddick.

Is there a state in this country that has a worse combination of Senators than Kennedy and Kerry?
